Privacy Policy

This data protection policy regulates the processing of personal data by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) and its dependent entities – the Metropolitan Institute of Land Development and Property Management (IMPSOL), the Metropolitan Taxi Institute (IMET), the Metropolitan Housing Consortium (CMH) and AMB Information and Services. The AMB and its entities may collect data from different means with the purpose of exercising its competencies and providing citizens, city councils and companies with services.

Each service and form states the data processing controller of the data you are providing.
2. Purposes of the data processing
The data, which are supplied by different means (contact forms, surveys, video surveillance system or other procedures), are collected in accordance with the laws in force on data protection matters and with the sole purpose of providing the service requested.

For each of these means, we provide detailed information on the purpose of processing these data, which is solely done if authorisation for their processing has been provided.

The entities process personal data differently, primarily for the following purposes:

Services and paperwork We will process your data to manage the services and paperwork you undertake. Your data may be shared with third parties depending on the needs of the service and in accordance with the laws. Once the paperwork or service is over, your data will not be used and will be stored to guarantee compliance with the entity's authorities and responsibility.
Newsletter and dissemination of the entities' activities We will send you information on the services and activities related to the entity. Your data will not be shared with third parties. Your personal data will be stored until you request not to receive notifications, at which point they will be deleted. You may request that they be deleted at any time via the information that appears in each notification.
Activities We will process your data in order to manage and organise the entity's activities. If you provide authorisation, your data may be shared with the other participants and/or published in the media to disseminate the event. Your personal data will be stored until the activity has been held. Afterwards, they will be stored as part of the entity's historical record.
Contact box We will process your data to respond to your requests, questions or inquiries. Your data will not be shared with third parties. Your personal data will be stored until your request has been fulfilled and the appropriate actions have been taken. Afterwards, they will be deleted, unless this entails liability for the entity.

Data are always provided on a voluntary basis and must be truthful. We reserve the right to exclude from services any user who has provided false data, notwithstanding other pertinent actions in accordance with the laws in force.

Under no circumstances will automated decisions be taken based on your data.

Only data submitted for the purpose of which you were informed, and which you authorised, will be processed. The data will not be shared with third parties unless you have explicitly authorised it.

The legal basis for processing your data is to provide the services you have requested and explicitly authorised, as well as to implement the authorities inherent in each entity.
3. Data processing by third parties
In order to guarantee the services of the AMB and its entities, your data may be processed by third parties that are dedicated to this, such as AMB Information services, service licensees, etc., in addition to service providers (web hosting, building security, etc.). This management of your data is solely and exclusively to guarantee the provision, security and availability of the service we offer, and we always guarantee that these organisations implement the recommended information measures and practices.

All our service providers are located inside the European Economic Area.

Your personal data will not be transferred outside the European Economic Area or to countries that do not have the level of compliance required by law without your explicit prior authorisation.
4. Your rights when you provide your data
At any time, you may request and obtain information on how and for what purpose we are processing your data.

You may:
  • Access the data: ask what data we have and how we use them, and even ask us to give them to another institution or company.
  • Rectify the data: request that inaccurate data be modified or rectified.
  • Erase the data: ask that we erase your data.
  • Restrict the data processing: ask that your data be stored for legal needs.
  • Object to data processing: ask us not to use your data in a specific way.
  • Request the portability of the data: ask that we give you the data in a compatible format so that you can give them to a third party who is going to offer you a service.
To request any of these actions, please send us a written request indicating which right you wish to exercise (access, rectification, erasure, objection or data portability). You must attach a copy of your national ID (DNI) and send it to the following address:

6. Submitting complaints
The Catalan Data Protection Authority is the supervisory body which ensures the Catalan public administration's compliance with the data protection laws. If you believe the AMB has failed to comply with any precept established in this regulation, you may contact it in order to submit a complaint.
